
Samburu/ Masai Mara/ Lake Victoria
DAY 1 Samburu Intrepids, Samburu National Reserve
On arrival in Nairobi you will be met & collected at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport or from your Nairobi hotel to catch the 11.30 am Safarilink flight to Samburu. On arrival at Samburu airstrip your driver/guide will meet you and transfer you to this luxury tented camp on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.
DAY 2 Samburu Intrepids
Waking up at dawn, allows you to explore both the Samburu & Buffalo Springs National Reserve. This semi arid ecosystem is bisected by the river, the arterial lifeline for many of the endemic species found in this Northern Frontier District e.g. Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra, Oryx and Reticulated Giraffe. The Adventurer’s Club & Education Centre at the camp is great for curious children wishing to learn more about this fragile ecosystem.
DAY 3 Samburu Intrepids
Home to big herds of Elephant families, it’s fascinating to watch these huge beasts playing & bathing in the river. Lions, Leopards and Cheetah while harder to find are frequently seen in this beautiful landscape. After lunch and an afternoon at leisure maybe in the pool or just lazing on the river bank, take an evening game drive before returning to camp for dinner.
DAY 4 Kichwa Tembo, Masai Mara
Departing from Samburu on the 0935am schedule flight, you will be met at the Kichwa Tembo airstrip and transferred to your camp. There the savanna folds out in front of you and big game can be seen from the camp boundaries itself. The camp is safe for children to explore within the fenced area.
DAY 5 Kichwa Tembo
Exploring this stunning wildlife area, game drives will be taken early morning and late afternoon or evening in search of the Mara’s famous lion prides, elephants and large antelope herds.
DAY 6 Kichwa Tembo
Being not far from the river it may be possible to see the huge migratory herds of wildebeest on their ritual travels. Sometimes precarious river crossings with all their attendant predators may be witnessed. In the calm, hot afternoons children may wish to swim in the delightful, small swimming pool, before searching for animals on the afternoon drive.
DAY 7 Rusinga Island Lodge, Lake Victoria
Early morning sees you take a short charter flight from the Mara, approx 25 mins to Lake Victoria. This 8 bedroomed lodge is set in a veritable oasis of huge fig trees, lush green lawns with a superb pool and spa massage/treatment centre. Bird life is prolific with nesting fish eagles overhead and water birds everywhere.
DAY 8 Rusinga Island Lodge
The day can be spent fishing for giant Nile Perch on fully equipped boats water skiing, “donuting” on the lake or just exploring the local archaeological digs nearby where Pro-Consul man was discovered. Many guests prefer to relax, use the Spa and beauty centre and take sundowners on the lake in the company of clamorous flocks of breeding egrets, herons, storks & cormorants on the nearby Bird Islands.
DAY 9 Departure
After breakfast, the charter plane will ferry you back to the Mara to connect with the 11.00am scheduled Safarilink flight back to Nairobi. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to your Nairobi hotel or to the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your departure.
